Why an image in Google results does more damage than a bad review
People remember pictures. A damaging image — whether it's unflattering, private, fake or taken out of context — appears in Google Images for every search of your name or business, and it's often the first thing a potential customer sees. Unlike a review, it can't be replied to or outweighed; it just sits there until it's removed.
When Google will remove an image
Google removes images from its results in defined situations, including:
- Non-consensual explicit or intimate imagery
- Images revealing personal information such as ID documents or home addresses
- Fake or manipulated explicit imagery
- Images that infringe copyright you own
- Content that is defamatory under a court finding
The other permanent route is removal at the source: if the image is gone from the website hosting it, Google drops it from Search and Images once the page is re-crawled.
Why removal requests get rejected
Each removal pathway has its own criteria and evidence requirements. A request filed under the wrong one is the most common reason images stay up — and repeated rejected requests make the case harder, not easier. Knowing which route applies before you act is what gets images down.
How we handle image removal
We assess which route your image falls under, pursue the removal at the source or through Google's channels, and handle the follow-up so the image actually disappears from results — not just from the page it was on. Where an image genuinely can't be removed, we'll tell you straight and talk through the alternatives.
